Late Notice Cancellation & Non-Attendance Fees
Providing notice allows us to offer your appointment to another patient who may need to see a doctor more urgently.
When a patient does not show for a scheduled appointment it means that another patient loses an opportunity to be seen. In an attempt to avoid this we have a non-attendance fee policy.
If an appointment is missed or cancelled at late-notice, patients may receive a non-attendance letter or SMS.
When you need to change or cancel your appointment you must arrange this no later than 3 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time, otherwise you will be charged a cancellation fee.
Allied Health, Specialist and Warragul Skin Cancer Clinic require 24 hours notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment.
Cancellation & Non-Attendance Fees | Practice Fee |
Weekdays Mon – Friday Standard Consultations | $60.00 |
Weekdays Mon – Friday Long Consultations | $100.00 |
Weekends | $60.00 |
Allied Health and Specialist | $100.00 |
Warragul Skin Cancer Clinic | $100.00 |
Please note that Medicare and Private Health insurance do not provide rebates for cancelled or unattended appointments.
Nursing Department Fees
Central Clinic charges fees for items such as dressings, suture removal (for procedures not done at Central Clinic), plasters, etc. for the purpose of shared cost recovery.
These fees have been determined in consideration of the cost of the materials, nursing time, procedure room supplies, waste disposal, sterilisation, and other factors. Simply accepting the bulk billing amount from Medicare for appointments requiring such overheads does not adequately compensate your Doctor and the practice for the service provided.
Central Clinic aims to achieve 100% compliance with Medicare’s rules:
We work within our understanding of the Medicare rules and the guidance provided by The Department of Human Services.
Medicare Benefits Schedule - Note G7.1 details that:
“If a practitioner bulk bills for a service the practitioner undertakes to accept the relevant Medicare benefit as full payment for the service. Additional charges for that service cannot be raised. This includes but is not limited to: any consumables that would be reasonably necessary to perform the service, including bandagesand/or dressings…”
(Source www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/provider/medicare/bulk-billing.jsp).
According to the Medicare rules discussed above, you cannot be bulk billed when your treatment requires an additional charge for items such as dressings, plasters, suture removal.
